I have always loved Halloween. As a kid, it was about scoring as much candy as possible. In my teenage years, it was a night when I could justify getting into trouble. And as an adult, I have totally loved costuming-up for Halloween parties. Halloween now has a new meaning for me. My mom died on October 28, 2005 and her funeral was on Halloween. This was my 4th year celebrating the High Holy Days with my Jewish husband Adam and going to services at the vibrant synagogue in Oakland we belong to. I have to say, I’ve become a big fan of embracing some New Year Energy at this time of year. I find it very invigorating and so valuable for refocusing, prioritizing and planning ahead. Let me guess, you do. Me too! Regardless of how much we love our work, it’s so important to take time off, get away, unplug, unwind, relax, rejuvenate and enjoy whatever it is that our hearts desire. Interestingly, I recently read a study about people who left their job to start theirown business.
